Description:
Not exactly a pub, but a magnificent fish and chip restaurant on the Scarborough Sea Front, plus don't worry, beer is available!

On the sea-front of the busy south bay, this restaurant is located on the upper floor of a busy sea-front chip shop.

For those preferring a sit down fish and chip experience, along with a cold beer, we can highly recommend this establishment!

Fish, Chips, Peas, Bread and Butter, A Cup of Tea, but a Bottle of Budweiser also, will be dish of the day.

Sit in the front window of this cosy and nicely decorated little cafe-bar, for excellent views of the north sea coast.

The friendly waiting-on staff will be happy to tend to your every need!

good prices, and fabulous grub!

The sh*thouse are located at the top of the stairs, so you can pee and crap away before your meal, or crap the peas away after your meal!

The gents is a cosy little room with nice brown and cream tiled walls, up to about one metre, followed by plain cream painted walls, see photos.

On entry to the room, you will find a single urinal located next to the sink, soap and hand dryer.

The urinal is well presented, and well kept, but also low enough for youngsters.

All was in order with the sink, plenty of soap, hot and cold water to wash away any sea water and sand, and the vintage dryer works a treat!

The all-white bog is nicely tucked away in its housing cubicle. white with white seat and silver handle, a matching white brush sits snuggly on a nice little box shelf to the right of the bog, and the large white roll holder is well stocked.

Excellent, after washing your hands, trun 180 degrees to the door and see the rather amusingly vandalised notice (see photo), which should read "these toilets are checked regularly however if everything is not in order please notify the management immediately", in reality it reads all together different, and its not just the beer talking!

Update - End of April 2009:

We've been back to the Fish Pan Fish and Chip Restaurant in Scarborough.

We had Fish, Chips, Peas, Bread + Butter, Pot of Tea, and we're impressed by both the portion size and the tasty food.

One quibble maybe was that the chips were a little dry, but the fish was excellent, and the vineger, ketchup and peas soon saw to the chips!

Service was friendly and very fast, we sat upstairs in the window and had excellent beach and sea views.

Two of us dined for 14.80 - not bad!

In the fridge for bevvies were John Smiths and Budweiser, to name a few.

To the toilets... and very little has changed, see updated photos.

The toilet was clean, with a bog brush and locking door, a little stray loo roll.

The sink area and urinal were clean, they are fed from a nice cistern near the ceiling of the room.

We're happy to report that the toilet checking notice has now been replaced with a new one.

Still highly recommended for Fish and Chips, and toilets!

“The fish and chips are not what they use to be,the fish is nearly all hard batter, I feel they have gone for quantity rather than quality.”

“We've always used the Chip Pan over the years and found it to be the best chippy in Scarborough. Good service, great food and very good value plus plenty of scraps if you want them.”
