Description:
The Sackville Lounge can be found on Sackville Place, just off O'Connell St.

If you're rushing down O'Connell Street towards the River Liffey, you may miss the turning to Sackville Place, on your left.

Take extra effort, this pub is well worth a trip. On turning into the road, the pub is on your right.

The alehouse consists of one large room, encompassing the bar, comfy perimeter seating all around and tables and stools to compliment.

On the bar were the usual tipples, Guinness, Bulmers Cider, Harp etc.

The prices we're slightly cheaper that they are nearer (and across) the river.

Guinness was 4.30.

The fellow behind the bar was very friendly, and good to chat to. Why not get a packet of crisps to compliment your stout?

It's well worth stopping in here for a few, given the slight price advantage.

After a couple of bevvies, you'll be wondering where the toilets are.

Head to the back of the lounge for the gents, and to the door on the left.

You will immediately fill with excitement at the sight of the large staircase you must descend once taking a right through the door! The steps are Terracotta, with a black rim, and lead you down a creamy coloured stairwell, from which you can see the loo's at the bottom.

The first area you may see is the sink area, which will also give you a feel for the "vintage" of these bogs".

Excellent sinks these are, check out the shape of the bowls on the pictures, creamy (probably originally white), set against white tiling with a blue decorative horizontal border.

Take a right into the main area, and right again to see the urinals / p*ss stones.

What Brilliance in Ceramic Sculpture!

Two lovely long thin stones, with a foot plate of stone, with a wacy line effect on it!

The two drainers are sat snug against the wall, plumbed straight into the wall. The wall above is a little tatty, showing holes which presumably housed previous pipe work.

At the end of the room is a singular toilet cubicle.

The loo itself is modern, white with a white plastic seat, though it is plumbed into the wall, and the handle is also wall mounted.

There is a large roll holder, and bog brush.

This room is looking a little old and tatty, but is full of character.

Look up from the bog to see a large, and a bit grubby, exposed pipe amongst the mish-mash of tiles and years of repair.

Back out of the toilet to the hand dryer. An old electric model, with a square metal/chrom button, and a square-ish blower, nice!

Eight of us visited the pub a few times on a recent excusrion, and we we're mega impressed. The conversation kept turning to "you've gotta check out the bogs..." and we'd recommend you do when in Dublin!

10/10
