Description:
You might pass through Monyash on your way to Bakewell, or other fine destinations, in the Peak District National Park.

If you fancy some Pub Grub, or just a drink, we'd recommend you stop in at The Bulls Head.

There is parking outside, and round the side, of the pub, but many visitors also choose to park on the road-side. There will most likely be several motorbikes parked up too, this pub is a popular stop-off.

Enter the pub via the front entrance and you will find an old pub, with low beamed ceilings. The pub is quite dark in places, but there are plenty of window areas.

At the bar there are local bitter's as well as Guinness, Carling etc, or Coke if you're driving. Tea and Coffee are also available.

There is an extensive menu of food available, and also a specials board.

There were 3 of us eating on our visit, our 3 meals of choice were as follows:

Haddock with Salmon and Chips - very nice.

Beef and Guinness Pie, Chips etc - big portion, no complaints.

Spicy Chilli Con Carne with Rice and Cheese Topped Wedges. The Chilli was very nice, thought the wedges were a bit greasy tasting.

The meals arent the cheapest you'll have had from pubs, the 3 above were 8 - 10 each but were very nice and very big portions. Steak Meals may set you back 15 or more!

The pub seemed to have a good atmosphere, the food came quickly, and the staff were friendly and helpful

In the rear of the pub, right from the bar, you'll find a pool table, very reasonable at just 40p (2x20p), although it did look a bit worse-for-wear. There is also a beer garden.

The toilets are in the rear of the pub, left from the bar.

Though the pub itself is brimming with period features and character, the loos are diappointing.

There are two entrances for gents, one room is just urinals, sink etc, and the other is a disabled toilet cubicle with baby changing facilities.

However, the urinals room seems to be a pre-fabriacted facility, some of the walls are even made of plastic. It was dark too.

There was nothing wrong with the 4 white urinals, and the soap and sinks worked sublimely (fast pressurised hot water), but there was no chracter in the room.

A quick look in the cubicle room reveals a generic looking diabled toilet room, along with nappy changing table and sink etc.

A good pub, nice scran, but disappointing toilets

5/10
