Description:
The Crown Inn is located right down the bottom end of bollington, under the shadow of White Nancy, and en route from The Red Lion in one direction, and the Church House in the other.
The pub is quite small but houses a dart board, a fire place, and tv, and seves good beers including Boddingtons Bitter.
Annually the pub is one of the hosts of the "Mind, Body and Boogie" music festival, which we attended the weekend just gone.
Outside were bands in a tented area, along with an outdoor bar selling tins of Boddies and Carling.
The bogs are on the way out of the back door, so lets go pay them a visit.
First off, a few years back (see photos), these bogs we're brill.
The room consists of 3 fairly "bog standard" urinals set on a white tiled wall with a brown tiled floor, along with a sink and old style dryer.
The "Jewel In The Crown" used to be the toilet bowls, which had special seats, one with a Union Jack design (on the left), and one with a Denim design (on the right. The bowl cisterns are integrated into wooden panelling at the back.
Both we're well kept, and had bog brushes, and we're a pleasure to use to drop of "Brown Jewels".
However, on our visit at the weekend, we discovered these seats had gone, replaced by standard brown ones.
Maybe a departing landlord took the old ones away, or maybe they were just knackered, and replaced in a lacklustre fashion? Who knows.
To make matters worse, as the pub was so busy, the toilet was in a poor state, with glasses and loo roll left everywhere, p*ss on the seat, and a broken door lock.
Oh dear, The Crown seems to have fallen from grace a little, compared to former glory.

“Indeed, when I first updated the pub I went for an Austin Powers feel in the mens bogs but unfortunately the toilet seats proved to be too much of a collectible item & were stolen!!! How sad some people are! Maybe you shoud visit our beautiful bogs again but NOT on the busiest day of the year and you'll find then sparkling again!!”

“I can confirm that now The Crown has had a lick of paint and a bit of a refurb it is without doubt the friendliest pub in the village. The beers are cracking and the Sat/Sun morning breakfasts are legendary! Good Work Karen!”
