The Legh Arms is situated on the main road from Macclesfield to Poynton, on the edge of the small village of Adlington.

The pub has it's own large car park, and is a mere 30 seconds away from Adlington Railway Station, which is on the main Stoke - Manchester line.

Divided into several large sections, mainly for eating, the pub is well presented, attractively decorated, and very porpular.

There is a long term TWO-FOR-ONE offer on food, with main meal prices from 5-10, averageing around 7.95, you really can't grumble at the prices.

And the portions are F*ckin Huge! Try the Sausage Filled Yorkie! a yorkshire pudding nearly 12x6 inches, filled with SIX sausages, mash and peas! Or try the Steak and Guinness pie with chips, pease and gravy, sh*t-hot!

Drinks prices are good too, the on-tap offerings include Carling, Carlsberg, John Smith's, Strongbow and Guinness. For the driver, there is excellent Pepsi on draught with ice and lemon.

If all that food leaves you rushing to the toilets, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Two sets, at opposite ends of the pub, the gent's are well decorated with Terracotta and White tiles.

The urinals are clean and well positioned, there is no overwhelming stench of rotting p*ss in here!

Toilets are well kept too, plenty of room, and enough bog roll.

I believe the sh*tters are inspected at regular intervals during the day, explaining their well-kept state. Just as well really, the amount of food consumed in here must make for a heavy sh*t turnover in these loos.

Sinks, Mirror and Johnny machine are in good state, the hand dryer was a little annoying, it kept cutting out too easily. Not too impressive when the one time you wash your hands you cant dry them quickly.

Well recommended for food, and nice pleasant sh*thouses too.

Update - August 2008:

We've come back, and we're very impressed.

As mentioned in the comments below, the pub is now a carvery. You'll park up round the back and immediately notice that the rear of the pub is now a seating area, and the wacky warehouse is gone.

Enter the establishment, and you'll notice that the pub decor is now much more classy. There is some nice wallpaper in places featuring garpes / berries, check it out!

The pub is now awiter/waitress service, sit down and order a few beers or wine whilst you peruse the menu.

The menu has several options, but by far the most popular is the carvery. it features 3 meats per day, carved by the staff, whilst the potatos and veg are self-service.

On a recent visit, my plate piled high was full of : Carvery Gammon, Carvery Pork, Carvery Beef, Giant Yorkshire Pudding, 3 Sausages, Roast Potatos, New Potatos, Carrots, Brocolli, Swede, Cauliflower Cheese, Lashings of Gravy, Mint Sauce, Ketchup, Mustard, Horseradish.... all for around 8 a head!

It was bang on too, the Yorkshire Pud tasted a bit weird /stodgy, but otherwise it was top scean!

There's puddings too, if you have room left in your belly. The Bakewell Sponge Pudding was a firm favourite, served with Custard or Ice Cream.

The beer was good too!

Let's take a look at the bogs. A trip to the gents proved a little disappointing, as these are the original bogs, un-modified from the checkerboard-tile design during the refit. There was a few new bits, new stainless tell dryers and some good Dove hand soap (see photos). However, it was those annoying taps that turn off as soon as you've let go after pressing them.

Overall: Top Scran, Yorkshire's need a bit of work, and the bogs weren't anything new, well recommended for a meal though.

“Just need to change the details on this one now guys.

It has been extensively refurbed, no-longer has a Whaky Warehouse and is no longer a 2 for 1 pub.

It is privately owned and is now a carvery. The Carvery is Excellent and as you can help your self to eveything barring the initial meant (I tend to have one of the meats and both pies they have on) and then you help yourself to everything else, including sausages, yorkies and all traditional veg. I always end up with a plate that looks like a mountain!

You'll be happy to hear the bogs are still in excellent fashion to serve your after dinner movments.

I would recommend eating here to anyone!

Andy B.”

“20 of my relatives ate the carvery at the Legh arms on Sat 24th April, out of the 20, 15 became violently ill the next day! Sound like food poisoning?”

“We ate there last night and it was disgusting! Terrible service - apart from one poor girl who seemed to be running round doing everything whilst the others did nothing! But the food was awful and the place was full of flies who seemed to be feasting quite niceley on the Carvery too. Couldn't eat the meal and got a full refund after hearing a poor bunch of excuses - Never going there again!”
