Lord Nelson is a 500 year old building which originally was a couple of cottages and a Coaching Inn called the 'Hornbuckles'. This is a country-like pub in the middle of Sneinton, Nottingham. The pub acts like an oasis for customers who enjoy food, drink and entertainment.

The pub has plenty of character, with many brasses, real wooden beams and low ceilings. The pub is split into little rooms creating four main areas, the Posh room, Common room, the main bar and dining room. There is also the the only beer garden in the area! Many locals come from some distance just to enjoy the good company and quality facilities.

The pub On a Sunday serve a full Sunday roast lunch with choice of usually 3 meats and traditional accompaniments. Through the week, they serve snacks and meals until 2.30pm with toasties available all day. All freshly prepared and all meals can be complemented by a bottle of wine, they even have a selection of mini cellar wines.

To complete an all round pub experience the pub hold a variety of entertainment each week.

Although a Greene King pub the place is great and a nice surprise to find among all the terrace houses of Sneinton.

We did not fancy any of the Guest Beers (all Greene King and brewed locally in Bury St Edmond's!), we had a pint of Guinness and it was tasty.

We went on a Monday and there were a few locals in. A nice surprise to find some Morris Men performing here on our visit. The Foresters Morris Men entertained us while we sat and had our drinks.

The toilets are located in two different places here. For ladies the bogs our just located to the left of the bar through some doors. The gents are literally right next to the bar and cannot be missed. Lets take a peek!

An old heavy latched door to start with. We find quite an old styled toilet here. Which looks like it could do with a lick of paint, but we liked the vintage style here.

One cubicle here. Toilet bowl in good condition, check the long pipe which leads up to a big cistern at the top (seep photo). A white toilet brush provided. An extra bog roll provided on top of the cistern. We love the long chain in here to flush your mess away!

Back out of the cubicle we have a long stone trough which lines the main toilet wall. The trough looks like it has seen better days.

Washing facilities? Well we have a small sink which is positioned below the tired looking window which looks out into a private area of the pub. Hand soap provided and some hand moisturiser too!

A great pub here and neat bogs as well. If your out Sneinton way sometime, pop in here for a pint and even a bit of scran.

The bogs are a bit old and tired looking. But we liked them and they had plenty of character.

We rate-7/10.
