Universally regarded by locals and students alike as one of the best places to hang out, party and listen to live music in Nottingham - the Bodega is a must visit venue that has been at the very forefront of the midlands music scene over the past two decades.

With a multitude of awards under it's belt including Best Medium Bar at the Best Bar None awards 2011, the Bodega holds it's own as a great all rounder whilst having cemented itself a reputation for bringing world class stadium and festival-headlining talent to audiences before they made it big.

The Social is part of a breed of bars that has its toilets hidden away at the back of the building, an adventurous stair climb away from the ground floor.

Unlike its sister clubs Rock City and The Rescue Rooms, the principle that rock and roll rules supreme has not led to the sacrificing of basic comforts.

The room isn't painted black, in fact it has several concerted efforts toward a pointed decorative style: bright lighting, pastel colours and the mirror broken into individual squares.

This is the club loo for music fans who want a bit more than graffitied squalor and trails of soggy paper.

Stylish indie trend setters drift in and out of the room in front of the glittering mirror and sleek fittings.

The live music wafts into the room from the venue next door in pulsating waves.

The Social urinals are more slightly wacky haircuts than you can count and Converse All Stars rule the day.

If you want to feel like you are in the heart of the city's musical hub then you could do worse than perch yourself on the sinks and allow yourself to be seduced by the range of sounds you are likely to encounter here.

An entirely individual venue and much more than just a bar, the Social is the kind of place that you are likely to bump into one of the members of that night's band. Indeed the location is such (right behind the venue space) that it probably acts as a kind of backstage area.

The open toilets are just the place to duck out of the party and discreetly grab an autograph, critique the band or just discuss music.

Great place and great loos, 7/10.
