Large pub located in the Cowgate with an outdoor courtyard and a number of themed bar areas inside.
The place is also a hotel. The Central Hotel offers 3* accommodation in Edinburgh’s city centre with 42 bedrooms based over 4 floors adjacent to the Three Sisters Pub. Each room has been tastefully decorated, emphasising the buildings original features but still providing all the modern amenities to ensure your stay is as pleasant as possible.
We stopped for the weekend here while on a short break to Edinburgh. Overall our room was tidy and clean. We had a bit of trouble with TV but it was sorted while we were out and wasn't that important as we were really only ever in room to sleep. Room was well equipped, plenty of towels, space, shower gels, tea/coffee etc and even Tunnocks teacakes, yum
Yes its a bit chavvy in the bar area here. With the local Chaves form the city nipping in here for a pint or ten. But drink prices aren't too bad for Edinburgh and in the summer watching sport outside in the courtyard it would be decent enough. Otherwise just a bog-standard place (with a good capacity) to go for a couple of drinks as part of night.
The bogs however are a little disappointing and were a little grim on our visit.
The cubicle we went into was a right mess (see photo). Bog roll everywhere, sh*t and p*ss all over the floor. There were empty pint pots on top of the bog and on top of the toilet roll dispenser. To top it all some twat had ripped the bog seat off, perhaps in a drunken rage, who knows!
The icing on the cake was the fact that the bog stank like a smell we have never smelt before. Yuk!
What a let down for a great weekend stay.
