Description:
Formerly the Pig and Whistle, this pub turned into a curry house around 2002ish, and is now called the Papadam Restaurant.

The building is a very old one, all the original wooden beams are on show, and the ceiling is fairly low. It is well maintained, and fills out with a good atmosphere!

The menu of food is extensive, many different curries.

For starters after popadums etc i recommend the Tandoori Festival, a selection of mixed Kebabs, or maybe the well named Chicken Chaat - Chicken Shat!

Main courses are plentiful, a range of meats inc. Lamb, Beef, Chicken and Duck as well as Vegetarian choices as well as prawns. There is even a peanut butter curry!

Lamb Balti is good, again there is a well-named curry called Chetiyars - Sh*tty Arse!

Sweets are available including the usual ice-cream offerings, save room though, as they bring you an after-eight mint and a slice of orange to finish your meal with!

The bar is adequate, serving Cobra, Fosters, Bitter and Strongbow. There are Balti Wines available as well a good pick of spirits, why not have a Baileys to wash away your curry breath!

the toilets are to the back of the establishment.

A narrow corridor brings you to the p*ss-stone, the original pub p*ss-stone, in good condition. There is a raised red p*ssing-platform so as you can ensure an excellent angle on your dangle!

P*ss stone has 3 chambers, nice pipes too!

The walls in the bog are plainly tiled, but more than adequate.

Beware though, if you stand on the platform then you are probably standing in p*ss!

There is a single cubicle in the gents, fairly roomy, with a nice door, good stuff.

bog brush too, might need it in a curry house! brown seat!

Overall a good place, why not give it a try?

7/10

Update - December 2008:

Had a meal in here last night, it was excellent scran. Good Wine and Good Service too!

In the gents, I was most impressed by the new rope-style pull chain in the loo (see new photo).

They also had a Disposable Toothbrush Dispenser, very nice, 2 for 1 too!

Be Warned, the hot tap was very hot, and the cold very cold, but I'm sure you'll manage!

Good Stuff - 8/10
