Description:
Medium to small sized Wetherspoon in attractive corner location building with large clear glass windows overlooking the market square.

This Wetherspoon pub bears the name of the 'first true English surgeon', who lived in Newark from 1349 to 1370.

It seems he was particularly adept at treating haemorrhoids, a complaint often suffered by medieval knights - apparently the result of long hours spent in the saddle, weighed down by heavy armour! By the end of his life, Arderne had achieved the status of 'master surgeon'.

Typical Wetherspoons food menu and drinks. We came in here after looking around Newark and around Newark Castle. A couple of pints of Guinness refreshed us. Before we left we first of all had to nip to the sh*tters.

A visit to the toilet is an adventure - take a map and a mobile in case you can't find your way back!

After finding the bogs up loads of steps and a corridor we come to the gents loos.

A funny shaped bog in here really. We have one area of the bog leading off down one side and the other leads off in another direction.

A nice long row of lovely looking urinals line the wall on one side. Each urinal has its own dividing wall, so you can p*ss in comfort!

We had a quick peek in one of the cubicles. Spacious inside, with a while toilet bowl and seat. Some turd had left a couple of unflushed turds in the bowl(see pic).

The sinks are back near to the way out. We have two sets of two dividing sinks. Boring wall mirrors above and soap dispensers between the mirrors.

Overall just an average Wetherspoons here in Newark, but nevertheless the pub is a welcome p*ss stop after shopping around the town.

Average pub and average loos.

6/10.
