Description:
A Robinson's Pub, The Boarhound is located at the top of Brook Street, by the start of the Silk Road, just of the beaten track of the main Macclesfield pub run.
This is a fairly roomy pub, the bar is to your left as you enter, with a room in front.
To the right of the pub are two other rooms, with a pool table.
Pub decor is a mix of classic and retro-modern. Classic in the old features, trinkets and brassware that exist throughout, but a little spoilt by the shabbily lowered, pannelled ceiling.
This is a busy pub, so you may have to wait a while for a drink on a friday night. On the bar we find the Robinsons trio of Unicorn, Hatters and Old Stockport Bitter. To compliment there is the usual Carling, Strongbow and Guinness. A large fridge section houses an excellent bottle selection, which would rival some town-centre establishments. Spirits, crisps, nuts and pork scratchings provide the appetisers.
Relax on many a selection of seats, before you rush away to deplete your Robbies!
As you enter the bogs, to the back of the pub, the first thing you will notice is that it smells like a swimming pool.
Bizarre!
Directly in front of you are a cluster of p*ss pots. White p*ssers, with White oval divides, and nicely presented, well space Pipe-working.
Some damn fine p*ssing aparatus!
The Dump-Bin doesn't dissapoint either. Plain white bog, but with a lovely pine wooden seat, a large roll dispenser (well stocked) and a bog-brush, what more could you desire?
White wall tiles fit well with this toilet-decor, classic red tiled floor too.
Sink, mirror and hand-dryer reside by the cubicle door, well kept too, no sign of soap on this occasion though.
Opposite is a jonny machine in case its your lucky night!
What else is there, well, an advert in frame, a small radiator to avoid Chilly Willy, and a Robbies ash tray on the window sill.
Nicely maintained, a pleasant experience.
8/10
