This was my first visit to the place following a recommendation from a friend. Was totally blown away with the unbelievable architecture.
What an amazing interior. Beautifully preserved tiled bar, and lots of little rooms adorned in a style only the Victorians knew how.
We called in for a few ales one afternoon. We stood at the bar of this magnificent folly looking at the extensive range of real ales and got into conversation with an elderly gentleman who informed us that his favorite tipple was a Moscow Mule!
Food looked nice but we didn't bother having any on our visit.
We had heard prior to our visit that the bogs here were 'architecturally magnificent'. Having checked the bogs out we certainly agreed with this statement.
They are billed as 'the only grade II* listed Gents in the UK' and they certainly are spectacular, and a tourist attraction in their own right!
Original Victorian porcelain fixtures in the toilets we were certainly blown away by how stunning the gents are.
The cubicle was superb with original bowl and cistern. Check the lovely cistern and tiles out in the photo. This has got to be one of the oldest bowls I have shat in. I could almost feel the history flushing away with my turds!
Classy place and classy heritage bogs!
Highly recommended just to see these wonderful loos.
