Amesbury is a typical picturesque little town in Wiltshire. We visited recently to go to Stonehenge and walked in the footsteps of our Neolithic ancestors at Stonehenge. We explored the ancient landscape on foot and paid a visit to the visitor centre with 250 ancient objects and came face to face with a 5,500 year-old man!
After all that we wanted to get some dinner before the long return journey home.
We decided to vsisit the local Toby Carvery and went for a quick carvery/roast dinner. We stopped off at Solstice services and fancied something healthier than McDonald's or KFC. This is a pretty standard Toby carvery chain - not a huge amount of uniqueness or character, but the staff were friendly and we couldn't have asked for more from them.
The carvery was good - the meat portions could have been a bit bigger (but I dare say we could have gone back for seconds if we wanted? The food was good quality and the cranberry gravy was really good.
The price was very fair - £8 or so a head for food each.
The bogs did not have much character either and were quite dismal inside.
Fairly big loo snide. A typical Toby Carvery loo with plenty of urinals and cubicles.
The cubicle I visited was dirty and the toilet seat was on the floor.
Not an exciting loo here. But we had a cheap fairly decent roast dinner and it hit the spot!
