Grand Central on Oxfrod Road is one of the best pubs in Manchester, particularly if you're into Rock and Heavy Metal music!

The pub was refurbished a while ago, but still maintains the great vibe and rock folk of the sh*tty, grimy original.

The pub is a long thing rectangle, with a long bar in the centre at the back.

At one end of the pub is the pool table (formerly at the opposite end), and a stage area for bands.

The jukebox is top-class here, pick from Aerosmith to Sepultura, Pantera to Machine Head. Relax on the Guns N' Roses Pinball Table too!

On tap we have Boddingtons, another great reason to come here. If not, then the Guinness is a good tipple here too!

This pub is very popular, especially at weekends, it is set in a goup of great pubs infact. Afterwards why not visit the Salisbury, The Attic and Thirsty Scholar, then The Font before going to The Ritz, Rockworld or Rock Kitchen!

Passing the bar there are a few amusement machines, and lots of seating. Past more seats there are the toilets, still in there original position.

The original bogs were legendary in the original Gran Central! The urinals leaked into buckets, and all over the floor, the bog was usually blocked, and the sinks were held on with duck tape!

Surely refurbishment was inevitable to some extent.

A good job they've done too...

A long double silver trough, with green p*ss soaps, is set against black tiling and beige walls with a read terracotta floor.

At one end of this is a crapper. It is all white, white seat and cistern and white roll dispenser. Set against brick effect tiles, this is now a good place to crap, unlike the bog that it replaced. Very roomy too, nice.

At the other end of the trough is the sinks, two of, nicely plumbed in and set against mirrors, with soap and dryer.

The jonny machine is your final landmark before we depart! it lights up just nicely too!

A very very good pub, should be visited on every manchester pub route.

Update: 22/04/2008

Was in here on Saturday Night, the sh*tter was blocked, and the cubicle door didn't lock, so everyone was coming in and filling it reet up with p*ss and sh*t roll, see picture, awesome!

“Now heres a place for anyone with Rock in their heart and a few
pints under their belt. As you're releaving yourself you can listen to a good choice of music. The added bonus is it's right next to the train station so it is an ideal first or last stop on your visit to manchester.”

“before the refurbishment of the little boys room in 2003 on of your jobs behind the bar was to empty the bucket of water in the bogs which was catching water from the leaking troughs.. aproximately every 30 mins!

Grand Central is very memorable.. or in the day "rand entral" as it was called acording to the sign out side.”
